Day 1: Helen –Charming Tourist Attraction, a couple of hours drive from Atlanta

This town is located in the North Georgia Mountains. What is unexpected from this little Georgia town is that it looks like a charming German village. This town is excellent to go to visit almost any time of the year. Some of the most popular times of year to visit this area are in the summer for the 4th of July, September for Oktoberfest, October for the town’s Halloween celebrations, and Christmas for their Holiday celebrations.

When you visit this town, try shopping in the heart of the town. Here are of the buildings resemble on old German village. This shopping area is located within walking distance of several of the town’s attractions. Anyone visiting this town should stop by Betty’s Country Store. You will enjoy shopping in this modernized general store which offers everything from retro good to organic and gourmet food selections. You can easily find anything you may need.

There are several wonderful restaurants located in Helen. You can find everything from authentic German fare to casual dining restaurants along the river. There are also old fashioned ice cream parlors and candy shops you can visit here.

Day 2: Amicalola Falls state park- Spectacular scenery, hiking trails and tallest cascade falls in the in the Southeast.

The word amicalola is a Native American Indian word which means tumbling waters. When you visit these falls located in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The falls and forest here are breath taking and well worth making a day trip to see. Everyone from the advanced hiker to the novice will find trails which are enjoyable. This is because there are trails in this area which are more challenging as well as trails which are easy for almost anyone to walk. This will allow anyone to be able to take in the beauty of the grand vistas the North Georgia Mountains provide.

Golf lovers will enjoy coming here to golf on one of the three beautiful and well maintained courses in the area.
