Atlanta Midtown
is littered with condominiums that guarantee fabulous walking-distance
venues for food, shopping, and social outings. But when you
live in one of these high rises, you can sometimes get quite homesick,
literally. Mulan cures your craving for Chinese by occupying
one of the neighboring Victorian houses right on the corner of 6th and
Juniper.
Mulan Chineese Restaurant MidtTown Entrance
On that block of restaurants consisting of gorgeous,
renovated houses like the Fifth Ivory and the
Takorea, Mulan serves Midtown
its Chinese fix in a pinch. Its patio illustrates a more
humble dining experience along with its quiet, quaint lobby.
Eating downstairs is more of the casual, laid-back experience
when you just want a friendly and cozy meal.
Mulan Chineese Restaurant MidtTown Daily Specials
The entrance door exhibits a montage of a multitude of
previous diners before you, all of them posing with that kind of smile
that communicates, “I’m both full and
content.” When you walk upstairs, you find dramatic
spacing opportune for various events ranging from private dinner
parties to business luncheons. There’s a haunting
elegance about it that beckons patrons to fill and admire the
outlandish and bold streaks that fill the interior’s
décor.
Mulan Chineese Restaurant MidtTown Tables
As for the food, Mulan adds to your standard Chinese set of
fried rice, vegetables, seafood, meat, and noodle dishes with a few
entrees that are uncommon to a Chinese menu: Thai curry plates.
So for those rare days that you feel like kicking it up a
notch, try the milky, medium-spiced Panang or the spicy, dry-roasted
Red Curry.
Mulan Chineese Restaurant MidtTown dining area
Self-proclaimed to specialize in their seafood department,
Mulan also occasionally switches up their Daily Specials such as the
Hunan-styled steamed whole Snapper. An area of China, Hunan
is a special preparation of a lightly flavored meat such as chicken or
steamed white fish and transformed with a touch of light soy sauce and
a pungent, fresh burst from scallions and ginger. It is
fantastic with your blank canvas of a starch, Jasmine Rice, paired with
a Pinot Gris or Riesling on a hot summer afternoon.
Mulan Chineese Restaurant MidtTown wine display
Their wine list boasts a wide range of whites from Viogniers
and Pinot Blancs to match well with their lighter end of their culinary
spectrum. With their category of Reds, Mulan sports more of
bolder, heavier varietals like Shiraz and Zinfandels to accent rich
ingredients such as eggplant and steak. Thursdays to Sundays
are fantastic days to experiment with varietals you may have never
tried prior as these are the days that Mulan hosts an event called
“International Wine Tasting,” which allows diner to
enjoy their meal with “bottomless” wines.
It’s recommended to call ahead for pricing
information and which wines will feature that night.
Mulan Chineese Restaurant MidtTown Full Bar
With a ton of options for your meal, dessert must of course,
be light and cleansing. Finish dinner with a scoop of green
tea or coconut ice cream or a variety of tasty Cheesecake flavors such
as Raspberry, Dulce de Leche, and Classic New York. If you
want to make a decadent combination, order coconut ice cream and the
fried banana fritters so you can create a rich, tropical finish to your
meal.
Last but not least, Mulan does have an expedient
and efficient service when it comes to carry-out or delivery options.
If you live around the block, it’s always nice to
treat yourself to a quite flavorful lunch after picking up your dry
cleaning next door or prescription down the street at CVS. Or
if you’re a professional working in one of these nearby
offices, and you’re running a little late due to your board
meeting, pick up the phone and let Mulan save the day once more.
