The time has come again to celebrate our nation's independence! Celebrations are gearing up all over the Atlanta metro area, with fireworks events and Atlanta traditions available for your entertainment. We've gathered here some of the highlights of the festivities, and how you can join in the fun.

Peachtree Road Race:

The Peachtree Road Race has been an Atlanta tradition for over 40 years. It's one of the largest 10k races in the country. With over 60,000 participants last year and 150,000 spectators lining the course, there'll be plenty of ways to mingle with everyone. The course runs along Peachtree Street starting at Lenox Mall and ending at Piedmont Park. The footrace begins at 7:30 AM. The race is also televised on WAGA-TV.

Restaurant deals:

While you’re watching the race, you’re probably going to want a little breakfast. There are two bars along the raceway that are offering meals and drinks. The first is Market in Buckhead. They’re holding an event called Fourth Fest starting at 6 a.m. If early morning alcohol is your thing, you can get bottomless Bloody Marys and mimosas for $14. They also have a special VIP ticket that gets you awesome race seating and free parking all day long. This is a great deal if you plan on walking through the city after the race is done.

Second, TAP in Midtown is holding its own patio party with street-level seating and Georgia beer to enjoy. All the traditional Fourth of July favorites will be served, along with excellent drink specials like the Peachtree bellini. This festival will run from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Heritage Arts Festival at Underground Atlanta:

From July 4th through the 8th, Underground Atlanta is hosting the 17th annual Heritage Arts Festival. More than 50 booths will be there to show off African artifacts, African-American culture, blues musicians, storytellers, and much more. The festival runs from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Woodfire Grill:

If you want some high-class dining a few days before the race, grab some reservations at Woodfire Grill. Kevin Gillespie is waiting to serve up a special meal of Southern barbecue and local beer on the night of the 2nd. He has a special barbecue sauce called Terminus City that you must try. Plus, brunswick stew and peach cobbler? You don’t want to miss this. You'll need to make reservations at www.woodfiregrill.com, and they're $38 per person.

Centennial Park:

Once you're done seeing runners and enjoying mimosas, head over to Centennial Park for the largest fireworks show in the city. Festivities begin at 6 PM with musical performances and family-friendly activities. At around 9:30, the fireworks show will begin! Traffic is likely to be very heavy, so take MARTA to the CNN Center station or the Peachtree Center station and walk from there. This is a free event, so there's nothing stopping you!

Fireworks at Lenox:

Traffic after the road race can be crazy. If you get trapped at Lenox Square mall all day you're in luck! Lenox Square Mall has its own festivities and fireworks show start at 6:00 PM. Party on the Moon will be performing at 7:30 PM. Party on the Moon is a highly-awarded cover band covering a huge range of high-energy musical genres, and is sure to keep you entertained until the fireworks start at 9:30 PM. The firework show is said to be the biggest in the Southeast, and should put a good capstone on a 4th of July day inside the perimeter.
