Canoe
The Canoe Restaurant in Atlanta is on the Chattahoochee River in the historic Vinings area. Reservations are usually needed, at least on weekend evenings. The view of the river is amazing and the atmosphere is elegant. Try the Georgia mountain trout with Anson Mills' grits, or for brunch, pheasant ragout with two sunnyside eggs, The roof looks like the inside a canoe, and you'll find the kitchen from the dining area, all done in a very classy way. Award winning seasonal American cuisine is creatively prepared and magnificently presented.

4.5-Star Resort with Private Plunge Pools and Mountainside Golf Course amid Four VolcanoesGuatemala's Fuego volcano hasn't had a major eruption in years, but it still likes to put on a show. On an almost daily basis, Fuego sputters lava and columns of smoke. At the 4.5-star Hotel La Reunión Golf Course & Residences, you have a front-row seat to Fuego's spectacle along with views of three other volcanic mountains: Agua, Acatenango, and Pacaya. The resort also offers more active ways to get in touch with the landscape, including horseback rides and zipline tours. And at the base of Fuego, a par 72 golf course designed by renowned architect Pete Dye undulates almost inexplicably with the terrain. The course helped the hotel earn a finalist nod for the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence in 2013...

The temperatures are cranking up, and it's time to get out of the house and find something fun to do in Atlanta! Now that Memorial Day has passed, all the great summer attractions are open. There's plenty of cool things to do in Atlanta. Here's a list of ten things to try before the heat goes away. 1. Geyser Tower at Stone Mountain Park This new attraction is sure to be popular with kids and adults alike. It's a two-story climbing and water attraction full of nets, misters, geysers, streams, ladders, and other fun things to test your fitness level and cool off at the same time. The design is made for multiple fitness levels, and there's a spot at the base for tired parents and young children to play in a small stream. 2. Center for Puppetry Arts If your child has an interest in the puppets they see on Sesame Street, or you have fond memories of Jim Henson, then you definitely need to visit the Center for Puppetry Arts. They have two special exhibits on Jim Henson featuring many of your favorite characters, plus shows and general exhibitions of puppetry. There are also workshops available for you to learn puppetry. There's even shows for mature audiences in their New Direction Series. 3. Chattahoochee Nature Center We're fortunate to have the Chattahoochee River running through our city and to have so much of its green space protected and open for recreation. At the Chattahoochee Nature Center you can wander through hiking trails, take a canoe ride, or go visit their Discovery Center to learn more about how the river helps our city. There are 16 recreational areas along the river, so if the nature center is too far there's sure to be a spot close by to you. 4. Six Flags Over Georgia Six Flags has come out with six new shows to entertain us this summer. Viewers of America's Got Talent may remember the group iLuminate. They're now performing at Six Flags! It's a mesmerizing light show that you don't want to miss. They're also debuting Pop 40, a show covering hits from the 70s to today. A good way to educate your kids about the music you grew up with! 5. Grant Park This is Atlanta's oldest city park, and it's surrounded by several attractions. Zoo Atlanta, the Atlanta Cyclorama, and the Oakland Cemetery all border this park in the heart of Atlanta. It's a good place to stop when you want an all-in-one entertainment center, or you just want to relax after driving everywhere around the city. 6. Atlanta Skydiving Center Now here's something that's definitely cool to do in the summer! Atlanta Skydiving Center is the largest and most skilled skydiving center in the Eastern US. Whether you want to do a tandem skydive for your first time, or you want to get fully certified, ASC offers classes and jumps for every skill level. They also use the latest and most effective safety equipment available. Go fly with them and see how addictive it can be! 7. Midtown Night Clubs The night isn't the only thing that gets hot in the summer. The night club district in Midtown is sizzling with hot music, sexy people, and cool drinks. If you want to get up and dance all night long, then check out places like Sutra Lounge, Opera, and Aurum. 8. Legoland Discovery Center Do you have a child that loves Legos? Perhaps you want to buy a set every time you go near a toy store? This newly-opened theme park in Buckhead offers everything Lego you could dream of. You can learn how Lego blocks are made, and enjoy a 4-D film where you're the star. Build your own Lego racer, and stop by the gift shop where you can buy all the Lego sets you want. Then go home and build your own creations! Just don't step on the blocks. 9. Dick Lane Velodrome Do you have a bike? Do you like going as fast as you can? Since 1974, Dick Lane Velodrome has been helping cyclists learn the fine points of bicycle racing on their 1/5 mile banked track. There's no obstacles or hills to worry about; it's just you and your fellow competitors. Can you beat one of their records? 10. Woodruff Arts Center The last cool thing to do in Atlanta we'll look at is the Woodruff Arts Center. This center the heart of art in the ATL. It's made up of the Alliance Theater, Atlanta Symphony Hall, and the High Museum of Art. There's many different exhibits and shows that come through these halls. If you need a dose of high culture, this is the place to go. More >>
