Georgia Tech sits right between Midtown and the Westside.
Georgia Tech's main campus occupies a large part of Midtown Atlanta, bordered
by 10th Street to the north and by North Avenue to the south, placing it well
in sight of the Atlanta skyline. Georgia tech mid town area has host of
restaurant and dining choices typical of metropolitan areas, including a
half-dozen in Technology Square alone. The following are our favorites around Georgia
tech midtown area.
Silver
Skillet
Silver skillet is it’s an old fashioned diner. The dining
room is a blast from the past: faded yellow walls, green-and-orange
pumpkin-colored upholstered booths with boomerang-pattern Formica tables.
Skillet-cooked ham is astonishing, packing the salty powerhouse tang of
long-cured pig meat. And it comes with a dish of marvelous dark red-eye gravy.
If you're looking for a real Southern breakfast, you should try
world-famous country ham and redeye gravy. Silver skiller claims that it is made
fresh using some old-style know how and a couple of secret ingredients, and so tender
you can cut it with a fork.
Bobby &
June's Country Kitchen
Situated in the heart of Midtown, Bobby & June’s sticks
out like a sore thumb with its front porch rocking chairs, barn door siding and
checkerboard surrounded by hi-rises and city traffic. Known for its barbecue
pork and cornbread muffins, the restaurant’s ambiance truly takes you back to
the country–until you walk out of the Bobby & June's Country Kitchen doors.
Vortex
Bar & Grill
The Vortex located in Midtown Peachtree Street in downtown
Atlanta. This hip, attitude-laden bar and grill makes some of the best burgers.
Aside from the ample burger options, menu fixtures like the deep fried, beer
battered cheddar cheese balls and the nacho tots. This place has everything for
the beer and wine lovers, many brands are available and the prices were not too
bad. They will make you just about any type of beverage that you want. The food
menu is very wide and the names of some of the dishes made me laugh. They have
bad ass Buffalo wings, big naked weenies, cowboy burgers, the Spanish fly
burger, chicken digits and the double bypass burger.
Spoon
Thai dishes run from the inventive to the norm, but what
seems standard for Thai food here has the zing of fresh ingredients and the
deftness of artful presentation. Basil rolls, for instance, are lively in flavor
and presented cut into bite-size portions. Jasmine rice flecked with black
sesame seeds accompanies all. Lovely tea is available as a beverage.
